Zona de Azar U.K. – Unibet UK Poker Tour set for Season Launch in Brighton

UK London.- March 21th 2018 – The popular Unibet UK Poker Tour is launching its 2018 season in the beautiful seaside resort of Brighton next weekend.

The event is being run in conjunction with Caesar’s Entertainment and will be held at the Rendezvous Casino in Brighton’s buzzing marina from March 23-25.

There are four Unibet UK Poker Tour stops scheduled this year with each boasting a £220 buy-in, £40,000 guarantee Main Event.  Among those set to compete at next weekend’s season opener on the south coast are Unibet Ambassadors Dara O’Kearney, David Lappin, Daiva “BalticBlonde” Byrne, Alan “Hotted89” Widmann, Scott “Sco” McMillan and Sophia “Djarii” White.

As well as their cash prize, the Unibet UK Poker Tour Brighton champion will get a custom trophy and package worth €2,000 for a Unibet Open event. A €2,000 Unibet Open package will also go the online qualifier who lasts longest in the event. All players who compete in the Main Event will also earn points for the new Unibet Player of the Year live event leaderboard with additional points for everyone who cashes and further points based on performance.

Brighton is a great place to visit, with tons of bars, restaurants, clubs, amazing shopping and a selection of great hotels right by the sea. The tour will be hosting two events there this year, with the return visit set for September. Among the city’s numerous attractions are its stunning Regency-era architecture, the world-famous Royal Pavilion, Brighton Pier and the British Airways i360 tower.

Satellites have been running on Unibet Poker since December with players able to qualify to the event for as little as €1. More than 100 players have already won their €500 package online.

Day 1a of the Main Event starts at 5pm on Friday, March 23, with Day 1b kicking off the next day at 3pm. The final day is on Sunday, March 25 starting at 2pm. Players get a 50,000 starting stack, with one re-entry per starting day up to a maximum of £880. Players also have the option of competing on both Day 1a and 1b and taking their biggest stack through to the Final Day.

Ladies Event

As well as the Main Event, the schedule also features the popular Unibet UK Poker Tour Ladies Event, hosted by Unibet Ambassador Daiva Byrne. The tournament starts at 3pm on Sunday, March 25 and is a  £50 + £5, single re-entry event with 15,000 starting stack.

There are also two live Main Event satellites being held at the Rendezvous Casino. Both are rebuys, costing £10 + £6 to enter. Players get a 1,500 starting stack, or 5,000 for a £20 add-on. The first satellite is on Sunday, March 18 with 10 Main Event seats guaranteed and the second is on Wednesday, March 21 with five seats guaranteed. Both satellites start at 7.30pm. 

Unibet Player of the Year

All players who compete in the Main Event will also rack up points in the Unibet Player of the Year live event leaderboard. The contest was launched during Unibet Open London and will involve players from both live and online events throughout 2018. Huge prizes are on offer including €2,000 Unibet Open packages as well as tournament tickets and cash prizes.

A spectacular Battle of the Champion’s play-off will take place early next year to determine the overall Unibet Player of the Year. Live players will also be able to rack up points by entering any Unibet Open Main Event as well as the Unibet Romanian Poker Series and Unibet Belgian Poker Championship. As well as points for taking part, there will be additional points for everyone who cashes and further points based on performance.

Unibet UK Poker Tour 2018

After Brighton, the tour is heading to the Alea Casino in Glasgow from June 2 to July 1, Brighton again in the Autumn (September 28-30) and Manchester from December 7-9. 

Last year’s Unibet UK Brighton events

At the Unibet UK Brighton stop last March, three women made the final table –Charlie Godwin (8th), Brighton-based American Deborah ‘Debs the Destroyer” Worley-Roberts (3rd) and runner-up Renata Jack. Unibet qualifier Mateusz Krzyzewski was the champion, winning £14,090. There were 261 entries generating a £52,200 prize pool. In October, the tour was back in Brighton for a second visit and attracted a record 316 entries. Colin Bidwell won the event for £11,540 with a guarantee-busting £63,200 prize pool shared by 32 players.
