Brazil: Bets CPI Cancels Businessman’s Testimony

Brazil – May 29, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The Bets CPI (Parliamentary Inquiry Committee) canceled the meeting scheduled for this Wednesday (28) to hear Bruno Viana Rodrigues, a partner at Brax — a sports marketing company. The postponement of the testimony followed the recommendation of the committee’s chairman, Senator Dr. Hiran (PP-RR), after the summoned individual failed to appear.

Bruno was summoned by Senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS) as a witness. Soraya, who serves as the rapporteur of the Bets CPI, justified in her request (REQ 397/2025-CPIBETS) that he could help clarify the connection between the betting market and advertising at sports events.

This CPI is investigating, in addition to cases of tax evasion and money laundering in the sector, irregularities in the promotion of online betting games.
