CPI on Bets Hears Influencer Deolane Bezerra

Brazil – April 10, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com – The CPI investigating irregularities in the online betting sector will hear digital influencer Deolane Bezerra dos Santos this Thursday (10) at 9 AM. She is under investigation by the Pernambuco Civil Police for alleged involvement in money laundering crimes related to gambling.

The summons, which is mandatory, was requested by Senator Izalci Lucas (PL-DF). In his request for the hearing, the senator argues that Deolane must explain to the CPI on Bets “how influencers are being used by betting platforms to attract consumers,” in addition to answering questions about illegal schemes related to the sector.

Habeas Corpus

The influencer, who was arrested in 2024, was also summoned to testify before another Senate parliamentary inquiry committee — the CPI on Match-Fixing and Sports Betting — in October 2024. However, she did not attend, invoking a habeas corpus (a legal instrument that protects a person’s right to freedom of movement and can be used to prevent imprisonment).

The committee has approved requests to take testimony from eight other digital influencers, in addition to Deolane. Among those scheduled to testify before the CPI are comedian Everson de Brito Silva (known as Tirulipa) and Gessica Kayane Rocha de Vasconcelos (known as Gkay).  Source: Agencia Senado
