USA.- January 11th 2024 www.zonadeazar.com [1]Betsy Fretwell, a seasoned business professional in Southern Nevada, has joined the Las Vegas Grand Prix as its Chief Operating Officer.
With over three decades of experience in various leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, Fretwell’s background includes nearly nine years as the city manager for the City of Las Vegas. In that role, she supervised 3,300 employees and managed a $1.3 billion annual budget. She also served as the Executive Vice President of Strategy at Switch and recently founded the independent management firm C4ward Strategies.
Renee Wilm, CEO of Las Vegas Grand Prix, expressed enthusiasm about Fretwell’s addition to the team, stating, “She brings extensive executive experience working in the public and private sectors and will be an immediate asset to our organization.”
As the new Chief Operating Officer, Fretwell will oversee the overall operations of Las Vegas Grand Prix’s business initiatives. This includes managing community and stakeholder relations and the year-round activation of Grand Prix Plaza, situated on the northeast corner of the Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane intersection, which houses the grand prix’s permanent pit building.
Fretwell, who currently chairs the Vegas Chamber’s board of trustees, holds positions on various boards, including the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance and Las Vegas Events. She will officially assume her role with the Grand Prix on Monday.
Commenting on her new position, Fretwell emphasized the significance of the Las Vegas Grand Prix as a premier global race and sporting event for the city. She expressed eagerness to collaborate with LVCVA, Clark County, and the community to build on the success of the inaugural race held last November, especially as Southern Nevada continues to establish itself as the sports and entertainment capital of the world.
