Brazil: SPA and Febraban Team Up for Betting Financial Education

Brazil.- June 04, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com On Monday, June 2nd, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of Brazil’s Ministry of Finance announced a cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban). The aim is to implement joint actions to promote financial education and guidance for bettors.
One of the main initiatives is the Financial Health Index of Brazilians (I-SFB), developed in partnership with the Central Bank. This tool works as a financial self-assessment, helping consumers to reflect on their financial situation and make more informed decisions. Febraban also offers free financial education courses on its official website.
The partnership between SPA and Febraban strengthens the regulatory commitment to responsible gambling, providing resources that foster financial autonomy and security for bettors.
Bradesco adds Pix warning for betting transfers
Following the trend set by banks like C6 and Nubank, Bradesco has implemented measures to restrict Pix transfers to betting sites. Now, when attempting a Pix transfer (especially via QR Code), customers receive a financial risk warning.
“Betting does not guarantee financial returns, and your money may be completely lost. Take care of your financial health and look for safer ways to use your funds,” reads the message sent by Bradesco since February 2025, according to O Antagonista.
In a statement to Meio & Mensagem, Bradesco clarified that this is an informative measure only, with no actual restrictions on transactions: “The goal is to provide customers with tools to manage their resources.”
Banks like C6 have also blocked credit card payments for gambling, aligning with current regulations that prohibit credit card use for betting.
According to Folha, if a customer tries to transfer an amount that exceeds their current account limit to a betting site, the transaction is denied. Nubank has been sending similar warnings since January: “Consider before proceeding—Some of these games are legal in Brazil but do not guarantee winnings.”
