Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: ANJL Receives Support from Abert and Abratel

Brazil. – March 21, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) announced that it met this week with the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (Abert) and the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television (Abratel).

In both meetings, the fight against illegal platforms and responsible gambling advertising were the main topics discussed.

In the first meeting with Abert, Plínio Lemos Jorge, president of ANJL, met with Flávio Lara Resende, president, Cristiano Lobato Flôres, general director, and Gabriel Pena Costa, legislative affairs manager, all representatives of Abert.

“Cooperation between various sectors of the economy and the legal system is essential for a joint effort in developing and improving effective rules and measures aimed at strengthening responsible gambling and combating illegal activity,” commented Resende.

For Abert’s director, as this is a new regulation, the market’s maturation process is natural. Resende stated that Abert hopes the “betting sector will increasingly contribute to the economy, job creation, and tax revenues.”

In the second meeting with Abratel, Jorge was accompanied by Pietro Cardia Lorenzoni, ANJL’s legal director.

According to ANJL, Brazilian media entities expressed support for the Association regarding the topics discussed.

“We are about to complete three months of a regulated market. We have new legislation, ongoing interpretations, and emerging demands. One of these, without a doubt, is the participation of communication sectors in this network to combat betting companies that operate illegally in the country,” said Jorge.

He concluded: “The projection of this illegal industry happens largely through advertising. Curbing this exposure will contribute to the sustainability of the sector that pays taxes and operates under the federal government’s endorsement.”
