USA.- August 2nd 2019 www.zonadeazar.com Nevada’s best ever revenue-earning June helped drive the state’s casino sector to its fourth year of consecutive growth with statewide revenue figures for the fiscal year reaching $11.9bn.

Baccarat and sports betting helped push June’s total to just over $1bn, up nearly 11.6 per cent compared with June 2018.
Michael Lawton, Chief Analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board, said this marked the best month of June ever and helped turn a relatively flat 12 months of revenue up to finish at 0.8 per cent compared to 2018.

The Las Vegas Strip accounted for $616.6m of the winnings, up 17.69 per cent, whilst the Downtown increased by 18.55 per cent.

“Gaming win has now increased in four consecutive fiscal years and eight of the last nine,” Mr. Lawton said.

The driving force behind the June increase was baccarat with casino winnings of nearly $158m, up $84m, or more than 114 per cent, from June 2018. This created one of the highest hold percentages in Nevada’s history.

Deutsche Bank Securities Inc’s Carlo Santarelli and Steven Pizzella said: “The highest baccarat hold (20.9 per cent) since 2003 drove the outsized growth.”

The other driver was sports betting which took over $322m in wagers in June, pushing the state back in front of New Jersey. Baseball was the most popular sports to bet on, generating $11.6m in revenue for Nevada books, followed by Basketball, which took $51m in bets.
