Zona de Azar USA – Recap of Responsible Gaming Education Week 2018

USA.- Agust 14, 2018 www.zonadeazar.com [1] Dear Gaming Colleague: Last week, to spotlight Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW), the American Gaming Association (AGA) brought together employees, patrons, policymakers, regulators and the public at large to discuss and pronounce foundational and evergreen responsible gaming education and programming available to all community partners.

In highlighting the 21st anniversary of the industry’s RGEW, gaming operators and manufacturers across the United States commemorated responsible gaming efforts by holding dozens of local events and educational activities throughout the week. This week on the calendar always provides an opportunity to showcase the industry’s year-round dedication to responsible gaming programs and is an important part of the industry’s steadfast commitment to promoting responsible gaming.

To that end, AGA was proud to play a leading role this week representing an industry wholly dedicated to responsible gaming:

AGA’s commitment to responsible gaming will continue throughout the year and we will continue to underscore the industry’s commitment to this important issue by engaging with our members and the industry at large. In-depth recaps of the events are below.

UNLV International Gaming Institute Event

Gaming industry stakeholders and local media packed a lecture hall at UNLV’s International Gaming Institute to hear remarks from:

The Las Vegas Review-Journal was one of many represented media outlets on hand to observe the panel, and noted in its report on the event [5] the significance of industry efforts, lead by AGA, to update the Code of Conduct as a new frontier in sports betting awaits in the states.

Cambridge, MA Event

Gaming industry stakeholders and regulators gathered in historic Cambridge to discuss recent efforts in the state as industry sees expansion:

The Dorchester Reporter welcomed Slane as a guest columnist [8] during RGEW, further outlining how AGA and its partners view responsible gaming as not just a pledge, but a priority.

Again, it was another successful RGEW for our industry. With growth across the country and the expected rise of sports betting, the week marked a critical moment for us to assure our top stakeholders that we remain committed to responsible gaming. As the Associated Press [9] noted in covering our events this past week [10], the industry made “clear that marketing and advertising rules on TV, online and other media, as well as efforts to prevent underage gambling extend to sports betting.”

If you have any questions about AGA’s engagement, or would like to propose other ideas for collaboration, please let us know [11].
