Zona de Azar Isle of Man – Half of All Countries in the World Now Prohibited on PokerStars
Isle of Man.- 9th September 2021 www.zonadeazar.com Industry effort to focus on regulated markets continues, as Flutter subsidiary expands its restricted countries list to now include over 100 nations.
PokerStars has updated its list of restricted jurisdictions once again, with prohibitions now extended to more than 100 countries.
While it is not clear exactly which new countries have been placed on the list, it is thought to focus on African nations. There are no known withdrawals from geographic regions that would represent a noticeable portion of their customer base.
It has expanded the list of players prohibited from playing real money online poker, the company’s freemium social poker app, and its pure play money tables, PRO understands.
The prohibited list with some form of play restriction is now over 100 countries long—over half of all countries in the world.
“We have been adding to our list of prohibited jurisdictions as part of an ongoing review into markets we would no longer operate in, started after the completion of the merger,” a PokerStars spokesperson told PRO, referring to the Flutter acquisition last year.
“The outcome of this work has recently been reflected in an update to our prohibited jurisdictions webpage, which details where in the world we do not offer real money, play money or freemium products,” it was stated.
