Malta.- June 18th 2019 www.zonadeazar.com What’s it about? Angular CLI version 8 is out and brings us some new exciting features. We will go through some of them and why should you be using them.

Differential loading

Differential loading is a process by which the browser chooses between modern or legacy JavaScript based on its own capabilities. The CLI now performs two builds of your application, which produces ES2015 and ES5 bundles. When users load your application, they will automatically download and evaluate the version they need.

Bazel Opt-In

Google open sourced the software responsible for building most of its projects. Bazel is a powerful tool which independent of the tech stack. It can Build and Test Frontend and Backend code, for example: SASS, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go and anything you want really! With its advanced local and distributed caching, smart dependency analysis and parallel execution, Bazel rebuilds only the packages, which have changed, and nothing else!

This will help you scale your organization and CI systems. This is the case inside of Google, which has been in use for over 10 years to CI system rebuilds the projects inside a monorepo on each commit.

Who’s presenting?

Alan Agius is a member of the Angular CLI team, actively involved in its development.

With over 12 years of experience in the IT sector, Alan is a build tools enthusiast and an active member of the open source community.

For the last year, he has been a core member of the Angular tooling team, where he has worked on the Build Optimizer, Flattening of TypeScript definitions for Angular packages, Differential loading, Improving Bazel support for Windows in the Angular Repo and TS API Guardian.
