Zona de Azar USA – USA: Super Bowl LV in Tampa on Feb. 7
USA.- January 26 ,2021 www.zonadeazar.com Oddsmakers on Sunday established the defending NFL champion Kansas City Chiefs as the favorites for Super Bowl LV in Tampa on Feb. 7 despite the presence of six time-Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing the game in their home stadium.
The Chiefs, who defeated the San Francisco 49ers a year ago in Super Bowl LIV, were made favorite by anywhere from 3 points to 3.5 points by most sportsbook operators. The over/under on the game was set at 57 or 57.5.
Brady, 43, the future Hall of Fame quarterback who joined Tampa Bay after 20 seasons with New England Patriots —an NFL record for the longest time playing quarterback for one franchise – led the Buccaneers to a 31-26 win on the road Sunday over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game.
The Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills at home, 38-24, in the AFC Championship game.
Several betting sites began positing their initial odds with less than 6 minutes left in the AFC Championship game and the Chiefs with a commanding lead. Tampa Bay won earlier in the day.
Brady, 43, will be looking for his seventh championship ring and will be playing in his 10th Super Bowl. He will face-off with the defending Super Bowl MVP, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 25, who was in kindergarten when Brady played in his first Super Bowl.
Last year, Nevada sportsbooks took in $154.7 million in wagers on the game – the second-highest total behind 2018’s $158.6 million in total wagers. The Nevada books collected their second-highest win total on the game in the last 10 years – nearly $18.8 million – after the Chiefs beat the 49ers, 31-20, in Miami.
New Jersey sportsbooks took in $54.2 million in Super Bowl 54.
With legal sports betting now available in 20 states and Washington D.C., sportsbook operators expect a hefty handle on a game that involves, Brady, arguably the best quarterback in NFL history, against Mahomes, who is playing in his second Super Bowl in just four years.
The Buccaneers will be the first NFL team to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium: Raymond James in Tampa Bay. Twice, teams have played in the Super Bowls in their home regions — the San Francisco 49ers at Stanford Stadium in Super Bowl 19 and the Los Angeles Rams at the Rose Bowl in Super Bowl 14, Neither team was in their home stadiums.
“(It) helps some,” Nick Bogdanovich, William Hill US Director of Trading, said in a text message Sunday when asked if Tampa has an advantage playing their home stadium.
“If someone tells you how much exactly they’re lying,” he said. “But (the) same bed, same locker, same field, some fans, no travel. Has to mean something. A point or a point and a half (I’m) guessing.”
Oddsmakers said the COVID-19 pandemic also takes away some of Tampa Bay’s advantage. Only 22,000 fans will be allowed into the stadium under Florida’s social distancing guidelines, filling 30% of the stadium’s capacity. The NFL announced last week that as a thank-you for their service, 7,500 healthcare workers who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 will be given free tickets to the game.
Only 14,500 tickets are available for purchase.
