USA.- October 29th 2021 www.zonadeazar.com Nevada’s 322 casinos generated $1.2bn in GGR in September, marking the seven consecutive months of $1bn, as confirmed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
The figure was up 9.4 per cent from the $1.1bn reported in September 2019. The record of eight consecutive months of $1bn revenues was established in late 2006 and early 2007.
Sports betting set a Nevada record of $786.5 m of bets placed and revenue of $54.2m, the third highest all-time. Slots generated $780.5m, blackjack $92.2m and baccarat $83.6m. The Strip bounced back too, generating $640.6m, up 81 per cent from last year. Hotel occupancy is running at 73 per cent last month with tourism down just 15 per cent from September 2019.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board’s Senior Analyst Michael Lawton said: “Strong demand across markets, the continued rebound of leisure travel and the return of special events and entertainment continued to propel gaming win past 2019 levels.”
Reno casinos generated revenue of $62.7m, a 9.9 per cent increase compared to last year. South Lake Tahoe casinos fared worse than the rest of the state. The South Lake Tahoe region generated $5.6m for the month, compared to $24.8m in September 2020, due to the Caldor Fire that saw evacuations in late August into September.
