The President of Portuguese casino operator Estoril-Sol, Mario Assis Ferreira, has confirmed the company’s focus on Brazil, which he believes has the potential to be the largest market in the world in relation to sports betting.

He said he was watching the development of the country’s potential liberalization of gaming and betting with a keen eye due to the high number of Brazilians who, every year, visit Estoril-Sol’s casinos: the Grand Lisboa, Povoa de Varzim and Estoril.

Assis Ferreira added that he thinks São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, and Recife are the best cities to host a casino due to their population and economic strength.

Last year, Estoril Sol distributed €2.706 million (US$3.06 million) in gaming prizes, which was a record for the company. Besides, GGR in 2018 was €196.8 million (US$222.77 million), up 2.4 percent in a year-on-year basis.
