Furthermore, the resources from these games are also destined for the most vulnerable communities in the State of Rio de Janeiro.

LOTERJ is committed to social responsibility, dedicating 70% of its net profit to initiatives and projects, such as the transformation of education and the development of around 600 children in communities. It also contributes to combating domestic violence against women in Rio de Janeiro, fully funding the Lar da Mulher, which offers individualized care, socio-educational activities and psychological support. It’s great news to see the formal betting market contributing to the development of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.

Loterj Profit Goes to Social Development

The resources generated by the games are directed to vulnerable communities in the State of Rio de Janeiro. LOTERJ, committed to social responsibility, allocates 70% of its net profit to social projects.

In partnership with Rio Solidário, LOTERJ supports the education and development of approximately 600 children, financing early childhood education spaces in communities such as Espaço Infantil Jardim Batan, Cidade de Deus and Vila do João.

Furthermore, LOTERJ contributes to the fight against domestic violence against women, fully financing the Women’s Home. This space serves up to 60 women and their children up to 18 years of age, offering individualized care, socio-educational activities and psychological support.
The president of LOTERJ, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, highlights: ‘Everyone benefits from the legalization of betting. In addition to the prizes, the regularized activity contributes to the collection of municipal, state and federal public coffers.’

He adds: ‘The collection of taxes and duties returns to society through quality services. A formal betting market provides security for bettors and promotes the development of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.

Perspectives for the Future

Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (LOTERJ) is reopening the accreditation period for companies interested in operating fixed-odd sports betting and online games. Currently, four companies already operate legally in the State of Rio de Janeiro: Apostau RJ, Bestbet, MarjoSports and RioJogos. Additionally, other Brazilian, European and North American companies are in the accreditation process, including names such as Caesars Sportsbook, Key Solution Gaming of Bet, PNR, Purple & Green and SDL Loterias.

Under the leadership of Governor Claudio Castro, LOTERJ overcame challenges and implemented a new lottery business management model, opening up opportunities for investors to operate regularly in the country. It is worth mentioning that, in accordance with the determination of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) instructed providers operating in the state of Rio de Janeiro to block URLs of betting sites not authorized by LOTERJ.

The action generated discussions in the national market, especially due to the grant value of R$5 million for a period of 5 years of exploration in Rio de Janeiro, which is significantly lower than the request by the Ministry of Finance, which was R$ 30 million.
