- Advancing the prohibition of credit card use in betting to reduce the risk of debt and compulsive gambling.
“Brazil is on the verge of having a robust and responsible regulation, which will be among the best in the world,” stated ANJL and IJL.
The two entities highlighted the sector’s commitment to awareness campaigns and the development of tools to protect consumers.

Alckmin Held Meeting on Credit Card Ban for Bets
Last Tuesday (24), Geraldo Alckmin led a meeting on the regulation of sports betting with representatives from various ministries.
The focus was on banning the use of credit cards and PIX, which is expected to come into effect in January with the regulation of sports betting and online gaming.
The credit card ban aims to mitigate debt and compulsive gambling. The government is considering implementing these measures gradually to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
However, some betting houses are already planning to get ahead and block the use of credit cards starting October 1.
