Zona de Azar Brasil – Brazil: How Affiliates Can Navigate the iGaming Market

Brazil.- November 7, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com A new era is emerging in Latin America’s largest iGaming market, as the country undergoes significant transformation, bringing new opportunities and challenges for affiliates in the field.

Recent regulatory changes have impacted the area, requiring affiliates to adapt their strategies. Considering Brazil’s size in the iGaming world, it is essential to have a good understanding of these changes and how they will affect affiliate marketing operations.

With this in mind, this article delves into the shifting landscape of the Brazilian iGaming market from an affiliate perspective, along with what affiliates should look for when partnering with operators in the area.

To better understand the market and how affiliates are affected, we spoke with David Harrod from North Star Network, a leading affiliate in Brazil.

The Evolving iGaming Landscape

The Brazilian iGaming market is undergoing significant regulatory changes, with operators now required to apply for a license, pay a gross gaming revenue (GGR) tax, and comply with Brazil’s responsible gaming guidelines to operate in the area. Naturally, affiliates are also facing uncertainties here, which present them with several challenges.

Harrod shared his perspective on these challenges, stating, “The first challenge is conducting our business within an ongoing regulatory framework. Licensing is advancing, and the first operators have submitted their applications, but we still don’t have a clear picture of how the market will look for operators a year from now. Our team is forecasting different scenarios, especially if major international betting houses are not licensed to operate in Brazil.

The second challenge is competition. Brazil is now the third-largest market in the world in terms of player databases, so it was natural for all the major affiliate groups and physical media companies to be drawn to this area.”

On the other hand, a shifting landscape also presents opportunities for affiliates, with Harrod noting that “the main opportunity we see is in the iGaming vertical and how this licensing system should help to eliminate rogue operators and help players trust the platforms they are playing on.”

Building player trust in the platform they are using is crucial for acquiring and retaining customers, so the hope is that the new licensing system will enhance this trust and make it easier for affiliates to promote brands.

What to Look for in a Partnership with an Operator

With everything in flux, finding the right partners will be important for affiliates who want to grow in this highly competitive market. Harrod emphasized that this is vital in the market, saying, “We work with over 30 operators in Brazil and have strong prerequisites: product quality, brand reputation, affiliate platform efficiency, and payment methods. We prefer local players with teams and offices in Brazil to match our identity in the country.”

In addition to these factors, having a responsive affiliate manager can help ensure success, as timely responses and marketing materials can help promote the brand.

Moreover, operators working with top-tier software providers, such as Income Access, can give affiliates access to real-time statistics and tracking, allowing them to instantly optimize their campaigns and adapt quickly to an ever-changing landscape.

Final Considerations

The Brazilian iGaming market shows no signs of slowing down, with more operators and affiliates entering the area. Affiliates will need to make sure they have a solid understanding of the constantly changing regulatory landscape, as well as ensure they find the right operators to partner with their brand.
