Zona de Azar Brasil – Brazil: IBJR Celebrates the Inclusion of Its Members in the Regulated Market
Brazil.- January 6, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) expressed its satisfaction in confirming that all companies associated with the organization have been included in Brazil’s newly regulated betting market. These companies are listed as authorized operators by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance.
“This authorization reinforces our commitment to responsible gaming and industry sustainability. Our members have made significant financial, technical, and compliance investments to operate legally and transparently, adhering to all regulations. We represent leading national and international brands, active in mature regulated markets such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.
We are ready to face this new chapter in Brazil’s gaming sector,” stated André Gelfi, IBJR’s general director.
Major operators form part of the IBJR
The IBJR includes some of the most prominent operators in the Brazilian and international markets, such as Betano, Sportingbet, Betsson, Betfair, Novibet, BetMGM, Bet365, and KTO.
Transformations in the regulated market
With the regulation coming into effect on January 1, 2025, the sector is preparing for significant changes. Among the key innovations are the mandatory use of the bet.br domain by licensed platforms and the implementation of advanced facial authentication systems (KYC).
The regulation also aims to combat fraudulent practices, such as match-fixing. This aligns with IBJR’s principles, which prioritize sports integrity. Drawing on technology used in regulated markets such as the UK, Italy, and Spain, IBJR-affiliated companies utilize artificial intelligence to monitor and detect suspicious activities.
Differentiation between legal and clandestine platforms
One of the standout innovations of the new regulation is the creation of the bet.br domain, which will facilitate the identification of legal betting platforms. According to the established rules, all platforms authorized by the Federal Government must operate under this domain, distinguishing regulated operators from unlicensed ones that fail to meet the country’s legal standards.
