Brazil.- September 17, 2024  www.zonadeazar.com Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) announced that he will file a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) to take down online betting sites operating in Brazil. According to him, these platforms “are destroying families across the country.”

Aziz highlighted that the number of people resorting to payroll loans to sustain their gambling addiction is alarming, especially among young people. He stated that this action stems from concern over the impact on lower-income families, who end up sacrificing basic needs to gamble.

The senator also criticized public figures promoting these sites, claiming that instead of encouraging good practices, they contribute to the rise of gambling addiction.

During his demands, he called for more control and regulation over the betting sector. Until that is achieved, he wants these sites suspended, comparing his action to the recent blocking of the former social network Twitter (X) in Brazil.
