The senators authorized the breaking of the telematic confidentiality of William Pereira Rogatto, the alleged leader of a gang that manipulated bets on Candangão, this year’s football championship in the Federal District.

Senator Romário made the request to access Rogatto’s emails and Facebook account. According to the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT), Rogatto collaborated with two Santa Maria players to manipulate results and influence bets. Furthermore, he would also have participated in similar schemes in São Paulo and Sergipe.

Google’s response to the Senate

Google requested more time to comply with the request from the CPI for the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting. The presidents of Londrina and Tombense, Getúlio Marques Castilho and Lane Gaviole, respectively, gave testimony to the CPI for the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting. They stated that they did not identify any irregularities in the match between their teams, which took place on May 19, 2023, in Series B of the Brazilian Championship. However, this match is under investigation by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) due to suspicions of result manipulation.

A fact that caught attention was the yellow card shown to defender Wesley, from Tombense, in stoppage time of the game, which benefited several bets made in Aparecida de Goiânia, the city where referee Jefferson Ferreira de Morais lives. The presidents’ testimony helps to clarify the events and investigations related to this game.
