Zona de Azar Brasil – More than 50% of Conmebol Teams Have Sponsorship of Sports Matches

Brazil.- May 10, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com In recent years, the impact of sports matches in football has increased significantly with the expansion of the sector.

While leagues like the Premier League in England seek to restrict sponsorships from betting houses, in South America these sponsorships continue to grow.

This season, 38 of the 64 teams that compete in Conmebol competitions, such as the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana, are sponsored by betting houses, which represents 59% of the total. Brazil leads with 13 sponsored teams.

Superbet has grown in the Brazilian betting market, in addition to São Paulo, and also sponsors Fluminense
The financing goes to more clubs: the leagues of several South American countries nombran their competitions in associations with betting houses. For example, we have the LigaPro Ecuabet in Ecuador, the Copa Betano in Brazil and the Liga1 Betsson in Peru.

Argentina and Brazil, highlighted in football and sports competitions, have 25 teams each in Conmebol tournaments. Of them, 17 (68%) are sponsored by gambling companies. Clubs like Flamengo (Superbet), Fluminense (Superbet), Palmeiras (Esportes da Sorte), River Plate (Codere) and Boca Juniors (Betsson) are examples of this.

In terms of sponsorship values, Brazilian clubs are at their wits end, with Corinthians having the biggest contract, valued at 23 million dollars per year with Vai de Bet. Fluminense, who recently won the Copa Libertadores, signed a deal for 10 million dollars with Superbet.

Palestinian, from Chile, reached a specific agreement with BETesporte

On the contrary, Chile, Uruguay and Bolivia have expressed their opposition to the sponsorship of gambling houses. In Chile, the government required clubs to end their contracts with these companies.

Uruguay has maintained a policy of state control over gambling, blocking more than a thousand websites and platforms since 2017. Bolivia also rejects sponsorship of gambling houses, especially after accusations of gambling manipulation in September 2023.

In the context of the selections of the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol, four are sponsored by betting houses, which corresponds to 40%. Argentina, world champion, has four sponsors or partners in the sector: Betwarrior, BC.Game, Duelbits and vbet. Peru (Te Apuesto), Colombia (BetPlay) and Ecuador (Ecuabet) are other federations with similar sponsorships.
