Additionally, a recent survey by the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) and the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) revealed that Brazil is currently the fourth-largest global market for the gaming sector.

With the growing supply and competitiveness in the market, it is essential that players have the best experiences to ensure bettor loyalty. According to 48% of Brazilians surveyed by Zimpler, the ease of withdrawing winnings is the main factor in choosing between different betting sites.

Technology is an important differentiator in online money transactions, with 46% of respondents highlighting the ease of use of the platform as an essential factor.

Sports Betting Is a Worldwide Phenomenon

Regulatory compliance is an important aspect for many Brazilians (33%), as well as the reputation and renown of the betting platform (37%).
These factors outweigh other preferences of Brazilian bettors, such as the variety of betting options beyond sports, which is important for 27% of them.

  • 34% of people who bet online in Brazil do so more than once a week. This was revealed by a recent survey of over 800 participants conducted by Zimpler, a European instant payment processor that promotes secure and accessible transactions for all.
  • 37% of survey participants stated that they switched betting sites due to lengthy payment processes when placing a bet or during withdrawals.

“The online gaming market is facing a crucial moment of expansion in Brazil, and offering maximum guarantees of secure and instant transactions becomes a key element for companies that want to succeed in the country,” explained Johan Strand, CEO of Zimpler.

“Therefore, the user must have the best possible experience, adapting to local bettors’ preferences, always with high-quality guarantees and easier processes when making deposits and instant withdrawals of winnings,” he added.

One of the most frequent problems reported by Brazilian bettors surveyed by Zimpler was delays in transactions (18%), followed by a lack of trust in betting sites (17%).

Other less frequently mentioned problems included difficulty using the platforms, delays or interruptions in payments, and lack of customer service.

“Speed, simplicity, and security are essential for success in the competitive online betting market in Brazil. Companies must prioritize these aspects to grow in the country,” said Strand.

Data from the IBJR indicates that Brazil has the potential to achieve a high channeling rate (percentage of players on regulated sites) and generate tax returns of $2.3 billion in GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) by 2025.

“In this scenario, having a payment platform that adapts to complex or evolving regulatory environments is crucial for success in the online betting sector,” he concluded.
