Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: Judge Allows Seizure of Balances in Betting Houses

Brazil – November 12, 2024, www.zonadeazar.com The judge Tereza Cristina Cota (Photo), from the 2nd Civil Court of Varginha, in Minas Gerais, authorized the seizure of amounts held in accounts at online betting houses, as a guarantee for the enforcement of a court ruling. The decision was made at the request of the Espumoso Credit Cooperative, which seeks to secure the payment of a debt of R$19,489.79.

The request was presented by Sicredi, which also sought the possibility of blocking the accounts to settle judicial debts. As a result, the judge reviewed the request and ordered the issuance of official letters for the seizure of funds in the betting houses. Consequently, the betting houses will have to identify and transfer the funds present in the debtor’s accounts.

The debtor holds balances in the following betting houses:

• Betano
• bet365
• Sportingbet
• KTO
• EstrelaBet
