Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: Lottopar Opens Accreditation Period for Apuestas de Cuota Fija

Brazil.-  May 20, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com  Lotería del Estado de Paraná (Lottopar) announced the beginning of a new stage for companies that want to believe and compete in the fixed-cost betting system.

This registration period starts on June 3rd and will be extended until July 3rd. The initial stage has the objective of demonstrating the interests of those interested and presenting the necessary documents as specified in the advertisement.

Before presenting the necessary documents, the Lottopar Special Accreditation Committee will carry out their analysis. This means that even if a company applies for the process, it is possible that it will not be selected.

The list of companies that have gone through the qualification process will be announced in the second half of July.

If it represents an additional opportunity for sports betting companies to register, the rules and conditions are the same as those previously established.

As described in Notice 01/2023 – Accreditation of Apuestas de Cuota Fija, it is mandatory that each approved operator is integrated into the administration platform and payment systems designated by Lottopar, thereby ensuring the integrity of transactions.

Operators who obtain the concession must provide a guarantee of R$ 5.8 million, pay a fixed subsidy of R$ 5 million and a variable subsidy corresponding to 6% of the concessionaire’s gross income (GGR).

The new accreditation phase for online gaming is in line with Federal Law No. 14,790, which regulates compensation bets in virtual gaming events.

As a result, online games can only be offered on virtual platforms, following the fixed revenue model. It is essential that the rules are transparent and easy to access for bettors when betting, guaranteeing the clarity and security of the process.

Lottopar, in turn, sets specific standards for online game operators, which include:

Don’t see the game as a solution to financial difficulties;
Avoid advertising that indicates that jobs are an alternative to formal work;
Do not promote the game as a means of obtaining additional income;
I do not suggest that the bets be considered a financial investment.

Daniel Romanowski, general director of Lottopar, highlighted: “Paraná was a pioneer in the certification of test laboratories and is the only lottery in Brazil, member of three important international organizations for the responsible game and against the manipulation of sports results”.

He added: “This positions us as the most attractive State for sports betting companies to operate in a regulated manner, contributing to a safer, more honest, reliable and responsible market.”
