Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: Lottopar Trains Brazilian Referees Focusing on Sports Integrity
Brazil.- November 20, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Lottopar has conducted another stage of sports integrity training for professionals of the Paraná Football Federation (FPF), this time involving 155 referees and assistants who will participate in football competitions organized next year. These competitions include professional, youth, amateur, and women’s football.
The training covered topics such as rules, regulations, and legislation prohibiting participation in betting, with an emphasis on Lottopar Ordinance No. 67/2024. This ordinance prohibits registration and betting on websites authorized by Lottopar by anyone who has or could have an influence on the outcome of a sports event. This includes athletes participating in competitions organized by entities within the National Sports System, and individuals holding positions such as directors, coaches, referees, and assistant referees.
According to Rafael Halila, Lottopar’s technical director, “This cooperation agreement we signed with the FPF broadens the opportunity for federation professionals to access qualifications in sports integrity, which are essential to staying updated on rules, laws, and regulations related to sports competitions and betting.”
The betting market is relatively new, and with regulation, the rules are becoming increasingly strict to protect competitions, athletes, and bettors. It is important to make it clear that in cases of misconduct, those responsible will be sanctioned. Sports integrity must always prevail.”
As was the case in late October with students from the FPF arbitration school, this partnership between Lottopar and the Paraná Football Federation reinforces the commitment to maintaining the highest levels of integrity, ethics, and transparency in sports competitions and betting environments. Fabio Veiga, Lottopar’s operations director, highlighted: “Through this joint effort between Lottopar and the Paraná Football Federation, we aim to protect sports, athletes, and bettors through education, training, and knowledge-sharing. Ultimately, both sports and betting are forms of entertainment and should be seen as healthy and manipulation-free.”
