Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: Ministry of Finance Publishes Rules for Sports Betting and Online Gambling

Brazil.- 07th May 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting published an ordinance last Friday (3/5) detailing technical and security requirements for sports betting and online gambling systems and platforms, also known as bets.

The ordinance specifies, for instance, that operators must maintain betting systems and their corresponding data centers within Brazilian territory, except in cases involving countries with which Brazil has international legal cooperation agreements. In such cases, specific steps and criteria must be followed.

Additionally, the ordinance requires platforms to be certified by entities recognized by the secretariat.

Operators must also submit data on bets, bettors, wallets, legal allocations, and other related information to the secretariat.
