Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: More than 53 Accounts and 25 YouTube Channels Identified Promoting Betting

Brazil – November 21, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The Ministry of Sport has reported “serious irregularities” involving the online betting market to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

The research, conducted by the National Secretariat of Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sports (SNAEDE), identified over 53 accounts and 25 YouTube channels promoting betting with promises of quick and easy profits, without warning about the risks involved in the practice.

The broadcasts attracted more than 100,000 viewers, according to the Ministry of Sport.

“We are talking about thousands of Brazilians who, deceived by promises of easy earnings, end up falling victim to fraud. Sports betting must be regulated to ensure transparency and safety for the population. Our priority is to protect Brazilians and ensure the integrity of sports,” said André Fufuca, Minister of Sport.

The investigation also highlighted the possible existence of a parallel market, with influencers, advertisers, and developers, “all financially benefiting.”

According to the SNAEDE investigation, the sites promoted by the influencers were receiving bets from various users, not paying the promised winnings, and shutting down the platforms.

Giovanni Rocco, Secretary of SNAEDE, emphasized that “these sites hide behind social media platforms to commit scams. They deceive people through influencers, promising quick gains and money to pay bills, go to the market, or supplement their income. But this is not betting; it is a crime against the popular economy.”

To deepen the investigation, the Ministry of Sport has requested support from the Ministry of Justice. If necessary, the Federal Police will be called to help combat this situation, “given the seriousness of the harm to the popular economy.”
