Zona de Azar Brazil – Brazil: To Play, There Must Be Rules
Brazil.- November 5, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) published a statement today, the 4th, titled “To play, there must be rules,” highlighting the importance of regulation for the betting market.
According to the Institute, IBJR’s goal is to promote a safe and sustainable betting environment that is trustworthy and beneficial to society.
“Brazil is on the verge of an important achievement,” stated the IBJR, referring to the regulations set to take effect on January 1, 2025.
Among the new measures established to ensure protection for all involved in the online betting industry, the IBJR highlighted identity verification through facial recognition—a method in which “Brazil is a pioneer.” Other measures include tools to limit time and losses, a ban on using credit cards for payment on platforms, among others.
Additionally, licensed sites will be required to use the ‘bet.br’ domain, distinguishing authorized online betting platforms from brands operating in the gray market.
“This way, the rules become increasingly clear, definitively separating legitimate companies from those with harmful and illegal practices. After all, to play, there must be rules. And the main rule is responsibility,” emphasized the IBJR.
In its statement, the IBJR stressed the importance of regulation, responsible advertising, the sector’s contributions to Brazil’s economy and national sports, and responsible gambling.
For IBJR, transparency and integrity are essential to betting: “The only game worth playing is the responsible game, with rules applying to everyone.”
