Sportingbet Approved to Continue Licensing Process
Sportingbet announced on Saturday, 23, that it has progressed in the process of acquiring its operating license in Brazil. The notification was sent by the Ministry of Finance’s Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA/MF).
“The authorization process, due to the gambling law, is now in its final stages. Sportingbet is thrilled to have received permission to move on to the next phase, which is submitting additional documentation and paying the fee. Our expectations remain the same: we plan to enter the regulated market on the opening day, January 1 of next year,” said Martin Lycka, SVP of Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling at Entain – the parent company of Sportingbet.
Operators now have up to 30 days to pay the grant fee, valued at R$ 30 million and valid for five years. The submission of the required additional documentation is also necessary, as per SPA’s requirements. According to Regis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Betting, the official list will only be published at the end of December.
