Brazil.- January 10, 2025 www.zonadeazar.com Data from Sportradar shows that Brazil dropped from the global lead in suspected match-fixing cases in 2024, with a 48% reduction in the number of suspicious matches compared to 2023.
There were 57 matches with indications of manipulation, 53 fewer than the previous year, with four cases occurring in competitions organized by the CBF. This decrease reflects prevention practices adopted by the CBF, federations, clubs, and betting companies.
Globally, Sportradar identified 1,108 suspicious matches in 2024, a 17% decrease compared to 2023, with 721 cases in football, which remains the most affected sport. Despite this, 99.5% of sporting events worldwide remain free from manipulation.
Sportradar uses AI and its UFDS system to monitor betting irregularities. Andreas Krannich, the company’s VP of Integrity, emphasized the importance of continuous vigilance and innovation to tackle the challenges of sports integrity.
