Zona de Azar Chile – La Polla Chilena Sues Internet Providers for Not Blocking Betting Websites

Chile.- 02 de Maio de 2024 www.zonadeazar.com La Polla Chilena de Beneficencia, a state-owned gaming company, has filed lawsuits against internet providers in Chile, such as Entel, Telefónica, WOM, GTD Manquehue and ClaroVTR, for failing to block gaming and sports betting platform websites in line that operate in the country.

They allege that these platforms have caused property damage of at least USD 200 million in the last two years. Despite a previous court ruling that ordered the blocking of more than 20 iGaming platforms, Polla Chilena claims that these companies only slightly changed their web addresses to continue operating illegally.

The company estimates significant economic losses and moral damages and argues that the lack of action by internet providers constitutes illegal conduct. Although in October 2023 the Public Ministry filed similar complaints, Polla Chilena continues with its legal actions.
