In 2011, the Government of the Dominican Republic established that the gaming sector should pay a 1% tax on the gross profits they obtained. However, that provision was not applied to date. And it was recently announced that the monthly collection will be in charge of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII).

This provision aims to increase the collection of the DGII and the Customs Directorate (DGA). In the Explanatory Report and Budget Policy, he mentions that “although the conditions have changed and all the tax liability agents have their operations online and in real time, the authorities have not applied the collection as indicated by the Law” .
