Zona de Azar Philippines – Two New Online Gambling Hubs for the Philippines

Philippines.- September 09, 2020 www.zonadeazar.com The Philippines government are pushing ahead with two new gambling hubs in the country to facilitate Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

During a recent government meeting the regulator for gambling PAGCOR Assistant Vice President for Offshore Gaming Licensing Jose Tria said that the new gambling hubs located in Clark and Cavite are well under construction.

Tria said: “We hope that they can continue with the construction so that we can already start…relocating some of the operators and service providers which have been granted by the BIR [Bureau of Internal Revenue] their clearances.”

The hubs have been planned since 2019 after the government realised that they were losing valuable tax revenues to illegal online gambling operators and to operators not paying the proper amount of tax.

It is expected that to have specific hubs for operators tax revenues would be easier to be extracted from legal operators.

Also many lawmakers said that the development of specific hubs would help reduce a spike in crime that some say originates from the Chinese workers who mainly work for online gambling operators.
