Zona de Azar UK – Vulnerability Registration Service Partners with Department of Trust

UK.- July 04, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Player safety platform for the gaming industry, the Department of Trust, has drawn up a new partnership with the Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS), which aims to reinforce gambling operator’s protection solutions in the UK.

Through the DoTrust Complete player protection platform, operators can now utilise the VRS’ central database of vulnerable users to perform an official VRS check. The platform then supplies operators with risk flags based on the database results. These results have been designed to provide safeguarding information while giving away as little as possible about the identity of the subject.

At any time, the VRS reports that around 700,000 people are listed with its services. Furthermore, individuals are not limited to registering themselves, as they can be listed by VRS trusted parties – including NHS workers, banks, charities and governing bodies.

Helen Lord, CEO of the Vulnerability Registration Service, commented: “This partnership with the Department of Trust is a vital development in protecting people from potential gambling harm at a time when the issue has never been more in focus. Our service and this new alliance will help individuals avoid the same difficult conversations when engaging with gambling operators, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance and best practice.”

Building on this point, Charles Cohen, CEO of the Department of Trust, said: “This is a great development for us and the gambling sector as it rises to the challenge of the new regulations coming in just a few weeks. Operators have a very clear obligation to identify vulnerable customers, but extremely limited means to do so early and without intrusive questioning or document sharing.”

In other UK responsible gambling-related news, last month the Betting and Gaming Council welcomed the Labour Party’s manifesto statement which detailed plans to work with the industry on responsible gambling.
