USA.- October 11, 2023 www.zonadeazar.com The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released a new study presenting the impact the gaming industry has on the US economy. The study was constructed by Oxford Economics.

Studies found that $328.6bn is contributed to the US economy from commercial and tribal gaming, generating $52.7bn in tax revenue annually to federal, state and local governments.

According to the report, the tax collected from the gaming industry, ‘provides critical funding for local public programs and services, including education, infrastructure and economic development, as well as supplemental revenue for state general funds.’

Related AGA research showed that the economic benefits curated from the gaming industry are widely recognized by Americans with 71% of adults believing that the casino industry has a positive impact on the economy in the United States.

Furthermore, the gaming industry in the US provides 1.8 million jobs, totaling $104bn in wages and salaries across the country.

Currently, 45 out of 50 states offer commercial and/or tribal gaming, including casino betting, sports betting and iGaming.

The report reflected how the US gaming industry provides employment for over 700,000 people in the country. This means that the gaming industry provides more jobs than postal service, air transportation or motion picture and video sectors.

Direct casino jobs account for 1 in 33 leisure and hospitality jobs.

AGA President and CEO Bill Miller commented, “The US gaming industry delivers long-term growth and impact to communities, generating significant tax revenue, creating strong jobs, supporting local businesses and funding critical community priorities.”
