Zona de Azar USA – AGA Reports $472M Annual Investment in Responsible Gaming

USA.- September 27, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released new research revealing a significant increase in responsible gaming investments from gaming industry companies. The total spending has reportedly reached nearly $472m, indicating a 72% increase from what companies had invested throughout 2017.

Conducted by a major international accounting firm, the research demonstrates a surge in industry-wide responsible gaming spending that has grown at a faster rate than gaming revenue over the past seven years, according to the AGA.

Customer service interactions has seen $135.4m in investments, while programs for developing and maintaining responsible gaming initiatives was reported to have $122.4m.

The final area to see over $100m in investments was consumer-facing responsible gaming education, totaling $107.7m as reported by the Association. Responsible gaming research and other non-profit responsible gaming organizations accounted for $31.8m, while problem gaming support services saw $26.1m.

“This impactful rise in RG spending demonstrates the legal industry’s dedication to fostering a safe and informed gaming environment,” AGA SVP of Strategic Communications Joe Maloney said.

“Beyond the considerable taxes gaming companies contribute to fund responsible gaming and problem gambling resources, the industry also proactively invests hundreds of millions of dollars more to ensure our customers have the tools, knowledge and safeguards to play responsibly.”

In early September, the AGA also released a first-of-its-kind Responsible Gaming Intervention Effectiveness Scale to provide academics, industry members and more with a research-based tool to evaluate responsible gaming messages.

The new AGA research comes during Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM) 2024, during which industry stakeholders have demonstrated their commitments to responsible gaming through an array of activations and announcements.
