Zona de Azar USA – Cowlitz Indian Tribe Announces $2.5 Million in Grants to Non-Profit Organizations

USA.- November 29th 2022 www.zonadeazar.com The Cowlitz Indian Tribe of Ridgefield, Washington, Monday announced it has awarded $2.5 million in grants to 31 recipients. Nine of the quarterly grants were awarded November 23 at the Tribe’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Ilani Casino Resort.

“Each year the Cowlitz Indian Tribe is honored to support not-for-profit organizations dedicated to lifting up and strengthening our communities,” said Cowlitz General Council Chair Patty Kinswa-Gaiser in a statement. “Today we are proud to partner with these nine recipients who demonstrate the true meaning of giving.”

Recipients of the grants include:

  • Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue, $700,000 for the purchase of two new ambulances
  • The Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington, $1,000,000 for expansion of operations for 700 underserved youth with quality youth development programs
  • The Vancouver Housing Authority, $500,000 for purchase of a 30-unit permanent housing structure,  to house youths transitioning from foster care or experiencing homelessness
  • LaCenter School District, $100,000 to support student educational needs
  • The Lions Club of Ridgefield, $20,000 for general operating support
  • Woodland Food Bank, $15,000 to meet increased food insecurity in the community
  • Santa’s Posse, a partnership between the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and local businesses, $30,000 for food and gifts for families in need during the holidays
  • Chai Rivers Recovery Cafè, in Kalama, Washington, $80,803 to support community-based recovery treatment,
  • Bonney Lakin Food Bank, $75,000 for equitable access to nutritious food for individuals facing food insecurity

“The Cowlitz Tribal Foundation grants show the giving spirit that this season reflects,” said Ilani President and General Manager Kara Fox-LaRose. “Ilani is proud to host this annual event to celebrate the special joy of the holidays with these organizations that do so much for our community.”
