Zona de Azar USA – Entertainment Industry Executive Darnell Strom Joins Wynn Resorts Board

USA.- October 21th 2020 www.zonadeazar.com Wynn Resorts announced the 10th member of the casino company’s board of directors Monday, appointing entertainment industry executive Darnell Strom to a seat on the panel. His appointment was effective Oct. 14.

In a statement, Wynn said Strom’s decades of experience in the entertainment, media, and sports fields “will be a significant benefit to the company.”

Strom is a partner and head of the culture and leadership division at United Talent Agency, a leading global talent and entertainment company. Strom leads the agency’s efforts to expand the cultural and business influence across platforms for its top clients in media, sports, entertainment, music, fashion, the arts, branding, and thought leadership.

Prior to joining UTA, Strom was an agent at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), where he set strategy and developed relationships for major clients, both individual artists and top brands, across multiple platforms, including television, motion pictures, publishing, digital communications, and technology. Strom’s previous work as an executive at the CAA Foundation led him to advise artists and large corporations on their philanthropic and pro-social initiatives.

Strom has also been active in politics, working as a deputy director for former President Bill Clinton and on Senator John Kerry’s 2004 Presidential Campaign. Strom also served on former President Barack Obama’s White House Entertainment Council.

Strom graduated from Florida A&M University. He has presented at major conferences including the Aspen Ideas Festival, Brilliant Minds, Sundance Film Festival, and Web Summit.

Wynn’s board has undergone a complete makeover following the departure of Steve Wynn as chairman and CEO in February 2018.

In April 2018 the company added three women to its board – former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers, three-time CEO Betsy Atkins, and Kestrel Advisors CEO Winifred “Wendy” Webb – who joined incumbent board member Pat Mulroy, making Wynn among the top 40 S&P 500 companies for female board representation.

In August 2018, longtime gaming executive Phil Satre became vice-chairman of the company. He was named chairman two months later. Satre’s appointment was part of an agreement the company reached with Elaine Wynn, the ex-wife of Steve Wynn and the company’s largest stockholder, who currently owns 8.84% of Wynn Resorts’ common shares.

Elaine Wynn has a two-year-old standstill agreement with the company in which she would not seek to rejoin the casino company’s board and would not attempt to influence company management.

She told the Nevada Gaming Control Board last month she only discusses company issues with Satre, Wynn Chief Financial Officer Craig Billings, and property presidents. The standstill agreement would expire if Satre left as chairman.
