Zona de Azar USA – Las Vegas: Plaza Appoints Head of Table Games and Promotes Two

USA.- February 1 2024 www.zonadeazar.com The Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas has enlisted Christiaan van Buuren as its Head of Table Games and has elevated two executives in the food and beverage department.

Ryan Rowland has been promoted to the position of Vice President overseeing the property’s food and beverage program, while Courtney Allen will assume the role of Food and Beverage Director.

A graduate of the University of Johannesburg, van Buuren’s background in casino and hotel operations spans from pre-opening planning and design with Gold Reef Casino Resorts in his native South Africa to managing casino operations globally aboard luxury cruise liners with Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

He also led the casino-gaming division of Kangwon Land, Inc., a large integrated casino-resort in Korea, where he revolutionized their casino and surveillance operations. His journey brought him to Las Vegas to be part of the SLS opening team, and later, he spearheaded the rebranding of the casino at The STRAT.

Rowland joined the Plaza’s food-and-beverage team in 2019 as its director. Prior to joining the Plaza, Rowland held the position of director of restaurants during the transition of the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino to Park MGM. His career includes management roles at renowned restaurants such as Spago Las Vegas, Michael Mina at Bellagio, StripSteak at Mandalay Bay, and Jean-Georges Prime Steakhouse.

Allen began her journey at the Plaza as the general manager of its rooftop pool operations in 2018, transitioning later to the property’s culinary-management team. Before her tenure at the Plaza, Allen worked at the Downtown Grand Las Vegas.

She commenced her career in the San Francisco Bay area as a manager for Blue Mermaid and Puccini & Pinetti restaurants, and later served as the food-and-beverage manager at Parc 55.
