Zona de Azar USA – Licensing Process Awaits Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ New President
USA.- February 1, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com Maurice Wooden, recently appointed president of Fontainebleau Las Vegas, will undergo a licensing process with state regulators, according to Nevada Gaming Control Board officials on Monday.
The 36-year gaming and hospitality veteran, known for his leadership at Wynn Las Vegas, will face gaming regulators as a key executive or employee, and while the licensing process may take months, Wooden is allowed to continue working during this period.
Wooden, who led Wynn Las Vegas between 2013 and 2019, left the role before a Nevada investigation claimed he knew of allegations against former chairman Steve Wynn. Fontainebleau executives expressed confidence in Wooden’s track record as he takes charge of the new luxury resort that opened in mid-December on the north Strip.
Fontainebleau Development Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Soffer stated in a news release on Sunday, “His well-established track record along with his unparalleled consistency and a deep knowledge of the hospitality and gaming industries instill an exceptional level of confidence in us as we continue the development and refinement of our Las Vegas property.”
The licensing process involves an application filing and an extensive investigation by the control board’s division. While some investigations take several months, Wooden’s experience in the market may expedite the process. Fontainebleau officials assure compliance with Gaming Control Board protocols.
Wooden replaces Mark Tricano, who remains with the company and will report to Wooden. Prior to his current role, Wooden worked on growth plans with billionaire Tilman Fertitta’s company, Fertitta Entertainment, where he served as president of luxury hotel development since May 2023.
