Zona de Azar USA – Nevada Gaming Board Green Lights Clark County’s Return to 80% of Capacity
USA.-April 28, 2021 www.zonadeazar.com The Nevada Gaming Control Board has given casinos in Clark County the green light to increase attendance to 80 per cent of capacity from May 1 with the aim of getting gaming floors back to 100 per cent capacity on June 1.
The move follows more than a year of operating upheaval with the complete closure of casinos from mid-March to June 2020 followed by reduced capacities of 50 per cent, 25 per cent, and then back up to 50 per cent. The state’s directive for the mandatory wearing of face masks remains in place.
The notice, signed by Control Board Chairman Brin Gibson, details new gaming floor restrictions for every Nevada county.
Whilst casinos in Clark County move up to 80 per cent, those in Reno and Sparks will remain at 50 per cent occupancy and social distancing of six foot.
Gaming floors in Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lincoln, Nye, Pershing, Storey and White Pine counties will all be able to operate at 100 per cent occupancy with no social distancing needed. Esmeralda County will remain at 50 per cent of capacity rate but with no social distancing. casinos in Lyon County will move to 100 per cent occupancy but with six feet of social distancing. Carson City will have 100 per cent occupancy, but also six feet of social distancing.
Analyst Brendan Bussmann of consultancy firm Global Market Advisors said: “The lifting of capacity shows that Las Vegas is back open for business. There is no industry that has adapted better and implemented the protocols it needs to provide a safe environment for every guest through additional measures, testing and vaccines
Amanda Belarmino, an assistant professor of hospitality at UNLV, added: “It’s a great day in Nevada to see us able to do what we do best, provide world-class service at state-of-the-art casino hotels. The ability to increase capacity will have a profound impact on our economy and send the message that we are ready for visitors.”
The situation will improve again if at least 60 per cent of the 1.8m eligible residents in Clark County receive at least one COVID-19 vaccination with all capacity limitations and social distancing restrictions lifted.
The improvements for Clark County come as the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority launches a new ad campaign, ‘Vegas You.’ This campaign will serve as a reminder that Las Vegas is ready and excited to welcome visitors back.
Vegas You capitalizes on the restless sentiment felt throughout the country and embodies the freedom of choice to live life to the fullest, by offering an escape into the adult freedom that only Las Vegas has to offer.
The Dance showcases Vegas as the backdrop where visitors are invited to revel in their freedom through a variety of fast-moving Vegas scenes. It also emphasizes that Las Vegas gives visitors experiences they can’t find anywhere else and a place to become someone else, let go, and live in the moment.
“The new Vegas You campaign reminds travelers that Las Vegas is open, ready and excited to welcome them,” says Kate Wik, chief marketing officer for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “The Dance, the first ad from the new campaign, evokes the feeling of freedom that has become synonymous with the Vegas experience.”
The Dance was shot at several locations across the destination including Circa Resort & Casino, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas to capture the uniqueness of Las Vegas that visitors have come to know and expect.
