The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wednesday announced that revenue from all forms of gaming reached $5.2 billion in 2022 compared to $4.7 billion in 2021. To put the $5.2 billion in perspective, gaming revenue in 2012, the first year of legal gambling in Pennsylvania, was $3.1 billion.
Tax revenue from gaming also reached a record $2.1 billion in 2022, nearly $200 million more than in 2021.
Slots were the most lucrative generator of revenue in Keystone State last year, bringing in $2.4 billion. Revenue from igaming ranked second at $1.3 billion, followed by table games ($990.5 million) and sports betting ($401.2 million).
Parx Casino in Philadelphia produced the most slot revenue, $393.8 million, a year-over-year decrease of 3.8%. Wind Creek Bethlehem generated slot revenue of $272.0 million, a 2.7% increase over 2021, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh brought in $266.8 million, up 6.2% from the previous year.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville brought in the most revenue from igaming, $561.2 million, a year-over-year increase of 34.0%. Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $326.4 million in revenue, up 9.0% from 2021, and Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia accounted for $255.5 million, an increase of 34.1% over 2021.
Wind Creek Bethlehem led in table-game revenue with $243.7 million, followed by Park Casino with $204.8 million, and Live! Casino Philadelphia’s $100.4 million.
Valley Forge Casino Resort generated sports betting revenue of $209.9 million, a jump of 39% from 2021. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowland had sports betting revenue of $76.2 million, a year-over-year increase of 11.6%, and Hollywood Casino at Penn National brought in sports betting revenue of $21.6 million, a decrease of 2.0% from 2021.
