Zona de Azar USA – PointsBet Part of Collaboration to Release Problem Gambling Survey
USA.- October 19, 2022 www.zonadeazar.com PointsBet, the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health (MACGH) have released a joint statement about their responsible gaming survey. This survey asked 110 stakeholders to advise on how operators should respond to signs of problem gambling.
This anonymous and voluntary survey asked respondents to place themselves in the position of an online gambling operator and tasked them with solving hypothetical situations. They were selected from the audience who attended the National Conference on Gambling Addiction & Responsible Gambling 2022.
They came from relevant backgrounds: 30% listed their primary occupation as a clinician/treatment provider while 17% said they were in recovery from a gambling addiction.
PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken commented: “We are proud to have partnered with the NCPG and MACGH to better understand how to find solutions for those impacted by problem gambling.
“A meaningful approach to prevention and intervention of gambling related harms requires input from all stakeholders. The role of online operators is critical to monitor player behavior and serve as a first line of engagement for customers who may be struggling.”
MACGH Executive Director Marlene Werner agreed with Aitken’s evaluation of the survey’s purpose. She said: “We are proud to have partnered with PointsBet and the NCPG in this effort to make meaningful progress in researching responsible gambling.
“Only through proper collaboration are we able to affect meaningful change, which I hope will also come to benefit and protect the future of people who choose to gamble in the state of Massachusetts.”
