Sports Betting: where do we stand with mobile?
With New York’s first sports betting lounges up and running, the first step towards widespread regulated sports betting in the iconic state have been taken. However, with sports betting currently only offered at upstate NY casinos, a significant distance away from New York City, there is growing pressure for sports betting to be made more accessible in the state.

In addition, with approximately 25% of New Jersey’s sports wagers coming from New York residents, proponents of mobile wagering have stressed the magnitude of the opportunity being missed. However, with concerns regarding the constitutionality of mobile sports betting in New York, as well as reservations regarding its potential social impact, the future of sports betting in the state remains unclear.

With additional venues including horse race tracks, OTB locations and casinos being considered as an alternative way of expanding sports betting in the state, this keynote will look to the future as the sports betting landscape in New York begins to take shape.
