According to a report by the newspaper El País, Enjoy Punta del Este resort anticipates a prize money movement exceeding 9 million USD, with slots being the most in-demand games, followed by table games.
To meet this demand, establishments have made significant investments in new technologies and machines, explained Javier Azcurra, Director of Institutional Relations and Sales at Enjoy.
According to the report, the Codere Group has also renovated its slot section since 2023, with an investment of approximately 25,000 USD per slot machine.
At the Sofitel Montevideo Hotel, where Codere operates the Casino Carrasco, gaming represents 15% of the hotel’s business, said Diego Marcone, the hotel’s general manager. “Sofitel has a casino, which is one of the business and entertainment segments we manage, along with corporate tourism, leisure, and luxury offerings,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Victoria Plaza Casino, located at the Radisson Montevideo Hotel, has also invested in the renewal of its slots, which generate 75% of its revenue. For this, 200 units from the 2024 generation have been added. “With a generational and gaming shift, slot machines have increased their potential,” said Leonardo Fuentes, the casino’s director.
Other Bets and Entertainment
In addition to game modernization, casinos are also investing in new technologies, such as facial recognition tools, with the goal of ensuring responsible gaming.
Another strategy being implemented by casinos is tournaments, which attract players from all over the world. In this regard, Enjoy stands out with a proposal that attracts a large number of foreign visitors from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, the U.S., Turkey, Romania, South Africa, and other countries.
The hotel also has an agreement with the Casino de Monaco, where both establishments host each other’s tournaments. “We have a very international proposal because we need to satisfy the profile of customers who are used to traveling and being extremely well taken care of,” Azcurra explained.
Additionally, hotels with casinos such as Rivera Casino & Resort, Salto Hotel & Casino, Sofitel Montevideo, and Radisson Montevideo, where Brazilian visitors make up a significant portion of the clientele, offer entertainment activities such as musical shows and high-quality gastronomy.
In the interior of the country, Rivera Casino & Resort and Salto Hotel & Casino, four-star hotels with slot and table game rooms, have also introduced new proposals to attract players.
Both establishments, managed by the same company, view “the casino offer as a significant part of the business, with the hotels serving as a complement for the players,” said Florencia De Lima, commercial and marketing manager of the hotels.
In the city of Rivera, there are two gaming rooms: Sarandí Slots (on the main avenue) and Sala Casino (next to the hotel). The first attracts more local visitors, while the second attracts foreign tourists. With the increase in shopping tourism in Rivera, Brazilians often visit on weekends, many of them being members of the casino’s player club, which offers special rates and discounts on accommodation and food. Argentinians traveling to Brazil are also frequent visitors, De Lima stated, adding that Rivera Casino & Resort has a unique feature: six VIP rooms with preferential access to the Sala Casino.
