USA.- September 4th 2024 www.zonadeazar.com 1,000 Dreams Fund (1DF), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering talented women in need through scholarships, mentorship, and essential resources to help them achieve their dream careers, is excited to announce the selection of two cadets for the Riot Games Esports Broadcasting Cadetship at Riot Games’ Remote Broadcast Centre (RBC) in Dublin, Ireland.
The cadets chosen for the three-month paid cadetship are Angelica F. from Ireland (@lichel) who studies at Technological University of the Shannon – Clonmel, and Emma L. from Denmark (@emsy) who studies at Aarhus University in Aarhus, Denmark.
This initiative is supported by Riot Games, a renowned video game developer, publisher, and esports tournament organizer, and their state-of-the-art Remote Broadcast Centre, which was initially launched as “Project Stryker” and is powered by AWS. Together, these partners are committed to promoting a more diverse and inclusive future for women in esports.
“We are thrilled to welcome Angelica and Emma to the RBC team in Dublin,” said Allyson Gormley, Global Operations Director of Remote Broadcast & Production at Riot Games. “As we gear up for the League of Legends World Championship starting September 25 across Europe, this is an incredible opportunity for Angelica and Emma to kickstart their esports broadcasting careers during Riot’s biggest annual event that brings joy to players worldwide.”
The Riot Games Esports Broadcasting Cadetship was designed to propel the careers of women interested in the behind-the-scenes roles crucial to esports broadcasting and production. Targeted at students and those with prior experience in esports production from the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region, this program forms part of 1DF’s BroadcastHER Initiative, launched in 2018 to support women aspiring to work in gaming and esports.
“We are extremely proud to introduce Angelica and Emma as the selected cadets for the Riot Games Esports Broadcasting Cadetship. This program reflects our dedication at 1,000 Dreams Fund to fostering talent and opening doors for women,” said Christie Garton, Founder and CEO of 1,000 Dreams Fund. “Angelica and Emma have demonstrated exceptional passion and potential, and we look forward to seeing them thrive at Riot Games’ Remote Broadcast Centre. This is not just a career opportunity but a chance to influence the future of esports broadcasting.”
The selection followed a competitive multi-week recruitment process, including five Masterclasses co-hosted by 1,000 Dreams Fund and its partners to train and guide aspiring esports professionals.
Angelica, one of the selected cadets, shared, “Growing up, I always dreamed of working in gaming and esports because it shaped who I am and introduced me to the most important people in my life. Being selected for this cadetship feels like finally reaching that dream.”
As part of their prize, the cadets will receive a paid three-month internship at Riot Games’ RBC in Dublin, funded accommodation during their stay, a travel stipend, onsite mentorship opportunities, and a $500 grant for career coaching with a gaming and esports specialist. They will also have access to two mentor sessions and exclusive learning experiences throughout the cadetship.
