USA.- March 4, 2024 www.zonadeazar.com MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have unveiled collaborative initiatives with Kindbridge Research Institute and Kindbridge Behavioral Health, aimed at supporting research on problem gambling and mental health services for veterans. The programs will also provide problem gambling referrals in seven U.S. states and Ontario, Canada.
As part of this effort, MGM Resorts is contributing $100,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute for a voluntary medication trial addressing gambling addiction among veterans in Las Vegas. The study, conducted in partnership with the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, is a component of Kindbridge Research Institute’s 50x4vets program, a multi-year initiative to boost gambling disorder research in veterans by fifty times within four years.
MGM Resorts Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Stephen Martino, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting military members and their families, emphasizing the importance of investing in research benefiting this community. The research will be carried out by the Las Vegas Veterans Affairs Residential Recovery and Renewal Center in collaboration with the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
BetMGM is also expanding its collaboration with Kindbridge Behavioral Health, extending problem gambling referrals to Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ontario, Canada. BetMGM’s Chief Compliance Officer, Rhea Loney, highlighted the program’s success in offering essential support and emphasized the company’s dedication to ensuring accessible problem gambling treatment and care, especially with the growing popularity of sports betting and online gaming.
This unique partnership between an online operator and a treatment provider facilitates direct access to comprehensive mental health assessments, treatment, and group support services. Notably, Colorado residents opting for self-exclusion from gambling through the state’s program are actively receiving referrals for voluntary treatment from BetMGM.
BetMGM and MGM Resorts are also participating in the National Council on Problem Gambling’s acknowledgment of March as Problem Gambling Awareness Month. Throughout March, GameSense messaging, a responsible gaming program developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, will be prominently displayed at MGM Resorts properties and within the BetMGM app.
The collaboration also extends to the American Gaming Association’s Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly public service campaign, aiming to educate both new and experienced bettors on responsible and legal sports wagering.
