USA.- April 21th 2023 www.zonadeazar.com Developers are vying for one of three coveted casino licenses available in downstate New York, with a proposal to build a $3 billion casino and hotel complex in Coney Island. Thor Equities, Saratoga Casino Holdings, the Chickasaw Nation, and Legends have been meeting with community members to discuss their application, known as “The Coney,” which includes a casino, hotel, indoor waterpark, and museum. However, not everyone in the community is sold on the idea, with concerns raised about gambling addiction and bankruptcies.

Competition for the casino licenses is intense, with other developers also hoping to open a casino in Times Square, near Willets Point by Citi Field, and on Long Island. Despite concerns, proponents of the Coney Island proposal argue that the project will bring more jobs and economic growth to the area, as well as improving safety with an enhanced police force and private security.
