Peru: Gaming and Tourism Associations Welcome Approval of New General Tourism Law

Lima, June 26, 2025 – www.zonadeazar.com – Peru’s leading gaming and entertainment associations have expressed their support for the approval of the new General Tourism Law, recently passed by the Peruvian Congress. The law aims to attract more private investment, enhance tourism activities, and promote sustainable economic development across the country.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León, during a meeting with representatives from major industry organizations, including APEJA, SONAJA, CAT, and ATCE. Minister León highlighted key components of the legislation, such as investment incentives, the promotion of business and event tourism, and the establishment of tourism development zones, to be detailed in an upcoming regulatory framework built through consensus.
She also emphasized the need for strong public-private collaboration, particularly for the reactivation of a Tourism Crisis Committee tasked with promptly addressing any threats to the industry. The meeting also reviewed progress on Peru’s new National Tourism Policy and proposed the creation of a Tourism Executive Board.
Industry leaders welcomed the approval of the law, recognizing its potential to stimulate economic growth and elevate the standards of the gaming and tourism sectors. The need for appropriate infrastructure for fairs and events, as well as effective promotional campaigns, was also discussed.
Minister León took the opportunity to introduce Nancy Aracelly Laca Ramos as the new Deputy Minister of Tourism, who will soon begin direct meetings with various industry associations to address their specific needs more closely and efficiently.
