Genius Sports Reaffirms 2026 Guidance Despite Brazil Betting Ban

Brazil.- 30 September 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Genius Sports has reaffirmed its full-year 2026 financial guidance despite Brazil’s recent ban on fixed-odds betting and online gaming.

The company said its direct exposure to Brazilian betting revenue is limited and that the regulatory change does not alter its financial expectations for the year.

Guidance Unchanged

Genius Sports continues to expect full-year Group Revenue of between US$1.005 billion and US$1.025 billion.

It also reaffirmed US$285 million to US$295 million in Group Adjusted EBITDA for 2026.

The outlook had previously been raised in August following a stronger-than-expected second quarter.

Limited Brazil Exposure

The company explained that the structure of its commercial agreements results in minimal betting revenue directly attributable to Brazil.

As a result, Genius Sports expects the financial impact of the ban to be immaterial for both the group and Legend.

Statements

Genius Sports co-founder and CEO Mark Locke said the company had already taken a conservative view on how quickly Brazil would generate meaningful betting revenue.

He said the company’s guidance had been established on that basis and that the new regulation therefore has only a limited impact on its expectations.

CBF Partnership Unaffected

Genius Sports also confirmed that its partnerships with Brazilian sport remain unaffected.

Its relationship with the Brazilian Football Confederation, CBF, centres on GeniusIQ, including semi-automated offside technology and other products supplied directly to teams, leagues and federations.

These services operate independently from betting activity.

Officiating Technology

The company has been expanding its position in football through data and AI-powered technology.

In Brazil, part of this strategy involves tools supporting officiating, analysis and sports operations.

The continuation of these services allows Genius Sports to maintain significant exposure to the Brazilian sports market even after the betting ban.

Impact of the Ban

Brazil’s Provisional Measure introduced on 25 September banned fixed-odds betting operations and advertising, as well as online gaming.

The impact may be significant for suppliers whose revenue is closely tied to Brazilian betting turnover.

Genius Sports, however, says its commercial model substantially limits that exposure.

2026 Growth

In August, Genius Sports raised its annual outlook after outperforming its second-quarter guidance.

The group generated approximately US$196 million in quarterly revenue and around US$53 million in Adjusted EBITDA.

Performance was supported by betting, media, new products and the integration of Legend.

Diversified Business Model

The Brazil situation highlights the group’s broader diversification.

Genius Sports operates across:

  • Sports data.
  • Betting technology.
  • Media and advertising.
  • Artificial intelligence.
  • Officiating technology.
  • Fan engagement.
  • Prediction markets.
  • Sports integrity.

This mix reduces reliance on any single jurisdiction or business vertical.

Industry Context

Brazil’s betting prohibition continues to prompt responses from international companies with exposure to the market.

Some businesses are assessing direct financial consequences, while others have maintained their forecasts because of limited reliance on local betting revenue.

Genius Sports falls into the latter category.

Next Steps or Impact

Genius Sports will continue monitoring regulatory and legal developments in Brazil but currently sees no reason to revise its 2026 targets.

Its ongoing technology partnership with the CBF also means Brazil remains an important market for the company outside betting.

The case illustrates how diversification across betting, media, data and sports technology can reduce the impact of sudden regulatory changes in individual markets.
