Allwyn Names Fredrik Ögren CTO to Accelerate Digital Strategy
Switzerland.- 7 October 2026 | www.zonadeazar.com Allwyn has appointed Fredrik Ögren, former Chief Technology Officer of Betsson Group, as the group’s new CTO to strengthen its digital and technology transformation.
Ögren will work closely with Allwyn Digital CEO Kresimir Spajic to develop a more integrated, scalable technology infrastructure supporting the group’s international growth.
Experience From Betsson
Ögren joins Allwyn after serving as Chief Technology Officer at Betsson Group.
His background includes leading large-scale technology transformations across international organisations and using digital infrastructure to accelerate product development.
Technology as a Priority
Allwyn has made digitisation one of its core strategic priorities.
The company created Allwyn Digital in September 2025 to bring together capabilities across:
- Technology.
- Data.
- Product.
- iGaming.
- Sportsbook.
Ögren’s appointment is intended to strengthen that integration.
Working Across Markets
The new CTO will work with teams across several Allwyn markets.
These include:
- United Kingdom.
- Greece.
- Austria.
- United States.
The aim is to use shared technology architecture while retaining the ability to adapt products and services to local market requirements.
Statements
Ögren said technology plays a critical role in creating stronger player experiences, enabling innovation and supporting long-term business success.
He said his focus will be on building a more connected technology ecosystem and strengthening capabilities across the group.
More Scalable Platform
Kresimir Spajic said the appointment represents an important step towards building a more scalable technology platform.
The objective is to allow Allwyn to develop and deploy products more quickly across multiple jurisdictions.
Brett Cross Moves Into New Role
Ögren succeeds Brett Cross, who had been serving as interim Group CTO.
Cross will remain within the organisation as:
- Deputy Group CTO.
- CTO of Global Lottery.
The structure will split responsibilities between wider technology transformation and lottery-specific technology operations.
Lottery Digitisation
Lottery remains the historic core of Allwyn’s business, but digital channels are becoming increasingly important.
In the UK, digital sales now account for around 51% of total National Lottery sales.
That shift increases the need for stronger platforms, data capabilities and products built for a growing online customer base.
Beyond Lottery
Allwyn’s digital strategy also extends beyond traditional lottery products.
The group has explored sportsbook opportunities and expanded its US presence through its investment in PrizePicks.
That move also gave Allwyn exposure to daily fantasy sports and prediction markets.
Shared Infrastructure
One of Allwyn Digital’s main priorities is creating a shared technology backbone.
The model is intended to support:
- Faster product launches.
- Data integration.
- Personalisation.
- Artificial intelligence.
- Greater operating efficiency.
- Multi-market product development.
Industry Context
Major gaming groups are increasingly investing in proprietary technology to reduce fragmentation and speed up innovation.
International scale also requires platforms capable of operating across different regulatory environments and consumer behaviours.
Next Steps or Impact
Ögren will be tasked with turning Allwyn’s digital ambitions into a more connected and scalable technology architecture.
His appointment strengthens the group’s effort to integrate lottery, iGaming, sportsbook and emerging digital products through a common technology framework.
